The Gold Coast played their system to their advantage last Sunday and will be looking to again in Sunday's QClash.

The 14.9 (93) to 6.10 (46) victory came after a devastating loss to the Southport Sharks in Round 4, highlighting that consistency is the key to securing more wins.

“We made a good adjustment against Sydney off the back of the Southport game. So now it's about consistency and performing and doing that again,” VFL Head Coach Tate Kaesler said.

“The main thing with three games in a row now is consistency.”

While the SUNS’ player development is showing real promise, early-season fixture disruptions and multiple byes have made it tough to build momentum, says Kaesler.

“I think probably the hardest thing with us at the moment is the continuity in games. So, being able to build consistency has been a big thing,” Kaesler added.

“Our job at VFL level is to continue to play at an AFL standard and continue to put pressure on players upstairs, so that each week when we go to match committee, we've got three or four guys that we can continually put up and push for AFL selection.

“Obviously, the AFL team's going really well at the moment but over the last two weeks, we've had a lot more guys put their hands up for AFL selection.”

The Gold Coast is set to take on the Brisbane Lions this Sunday, May 4 at Brighton Homes Arena in a highly anticipated clash.

The SUNS are currently placed 11th on the VFL ladder with a 2-2 record, sitting just below the Lions, who are 7th with three wins and one loss.

“We know they're a really high quality outfit and a really strong organisation and understand this is another challenge for us but it's something that we're really excited about,” Kaesler said.

“It's not our home ground, but it's our home state. So, that little bit of rivalry is there as well, which is always exciting.

It's a good opportunity for us to be able to play in front of our fans that come down early to watch the game and then flow on to the AFL game.”

The VFL QClash kicks off at 12:05pm, ahead of the AFL QClash at the Gabba. SUNS fans can catch all the action Official VFL & AFL apps and websites.
