Mid-season rookie draftee Oscar Adams will become the Gold Coast SUNS’ second AFL debutant of 2025 in Saturday’s clash against Essendon at Marvel Stadium.
The 21-year-old earns his chance at AFL level just six weeks after being selected by the SUNS with Pick 7 in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
The South Australian comes into the side in place of vice-captain Sam Collins.
The athletic key defender previously spent time on St Kilda’s list and was most recently a driving force in Glenelg’s 2024 SANFL premiership team.
“Oscar has impressed in such a short time at the club and it’s fantastic for him to have earned the chance to make his AFL debut,” GC SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell said.
“Sam experienced some calf tightness at training on Thursday and a decision was made to withdraw him from this weekend’s team.”
Adams joins StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduate Leo Lombard to have made their respective AFL debuts for the club so far in 2025.
