SUNS ruckman Jarrod Witts will become the newest member of the 200 club, when the SUNS face Carlton on Saturday night at Marval Stadium.
Making the trip north, after being traded from Collingwood in 2016, Witts has become a vital part of the SUNS squad across nine seasons, and is stilled signed until the end of next season.
2019 was a standout year for Witts, named co-captain and club champion, alongside being the record holder for the most hit outs in a home and away season, racking up a total of 1,008 in that year.
Witts joins an elite list of SUNS players who have played 200 or more games that includes the club’s only lifetime membership holder, Gary Ablett Jnr, who retired after playing his final game in the 2020 AFL Grand Final.
In 2024, Witts became the first active SUNS player to graduate from Griffith University earning a Bachelor of business after seven years of study.
Alongside Witts, who will celebrate his 200th game, fellow teammate Connor Budarick will also chalk up 50 games on Saturday.
The SUNS head into the Saturday night clash with a 13-6 record, claiming scalps over Brisbane and Collingwood along the way.
The SUNS 13-6 record stands as the club’s best season in history, leaving them in contention for finals birth this season, marking the first in club history.
The SUNS will be looking to celebrate Witts’ milestone in style, and build on the club’s impressive record to edge closer to their maiden finals campaign.
The first bounce is at 7:35pm.
