A historic year for the Gold Coast SUNS has reached new heights with the club eclipsing 30,107 members for the first time.

As the SUNS prepare for Saturday’s Elimination Final against Fremantle, the club is pleased to announce it will set a new membership record for a sixth consecutive season, surpassing the previous record of 26,157 members in 2024.

The Gold Coast is supporting its AFL team like never before with anticipation and excitement at fever pitch following a club-record 15 AFL wins in 2025, and qualification for the SUNS’ first ever Toyota AFL Finals Series.

Gold Coast SUNS CEO Mark Evans says the support from the community has been incredible throughout a history-making year.

“At the beginning of such a big week for the Gold Coast SUNS and the Gold Coast community, it’s fantastic that we are able to announce we have reached 30,107 members for the first time,” Evans said.

“The SUNS were the first sporting franchise on the Gold Coast to reach 20,000 members, and to now become the first to reach 30,107 members is a terrific achievement for our club.

“Our purpose as an organisation is to inspire the community to be part of our extraordinary journey, and it’s wonderful to now be heading into our first AFL Finals Series with record numbers supporting our club. Our members have been fearless in their support this year and we believe the best is yet to come.”

It is the sixth consecutive season in which the SUNS have set a new membership benchmark, with membership numbers growing by almost 100% in that time period.

The announcement aligns with unprecedented community football participation in Queensland this year, with the state on track to achieve another participation record.
