The Gold Coast SUNS wish to congratulate AFLW Head Coach Rhyce Shaw who will qualify for AFL Life Membership following Friday’s Round 7 match against Melbourne.

Friday’s match will see Shaw reach a combined 300 matches as an AFL player, AFL Senior Coach and AFLW Head Coach.

Shaw played 237 games at both Collingwood and the Sydney Swans, winning the 2012 premiership with the Swans, as well as 29 as North Melbourne Senior Coach and soon-to-be seven matches as SUNS AFLW Head Coach.

“To reach 300 matches as a player and a coach is a remarkable achievement for Rhyce and those close to him who have played a role over the journey,” Gold Coast SUNS CEO Mark Evans said.

“Hopefully we can mark the occasion with a win against the Demons in Melbourne.”

Shaw joined the Gold Coast in 2021 as Head of Development in the AFL program, before being appointed to Director of Coaching within the StreetSmarts SUNS Academy in 2023 and most recently promoted to AFLW Head Coach.
