With back-to-back home games to kick start the campaign and plenty more action on the Gold Coast to come, what are the matches at People First Stadium you simply can’t afford to miss?
Opening Round v Geelong
There’s no better way to start the season than under Friday night lights at home against perennial contenders Geelong. In what will be the Cats’ first outing since Grand Final day in 2025, a SUNS side boasting a raft of new faces will be looking to make a statement of intent right from the start in primetime.
Round 1 v West Coast
What’s better than one home game at the start of a fresh season? How about two! The Eagles make their way over to People First Stadium for just the second time in four seasons and before several sides have had the chance for their first, SUNS fans get the taste of its second home game of the season. The perfect remedy to cure those Sunday evening blues.
Round 8 v GWS
For the first time in both clubs’ existences, the AFL’s two newest teams booked their September tickets in 2025. The Giants have had the wood over the SUNS in recent years, but Damien Hardwick’s side are on the march and will valiantly defend its home. Under lights on the eve of a public holiday, it’s the perfect opportunity to make a Gold Coast long weekend to savour.
Round 13 v Brisbane Lions
The two sides split the ledger 1-1 in 2025 and will come together for the first time since September’s historic QClash semi-final at the Gabba. Gold Coast will be looking to exact some revenge from that evening and record consecutive home QClash wins for just the third time in its history. In a family-friendly time at 5:15pm Saturday, it’s simply a must-see between two times who are every chance of being among the contenders in 2026.
Round 15 v Hawthorn
After 15 years in the fixturing wilderness, the Hawks come to town for the second Friday night fixture at People First Stadium next season – the first time that has happened in SUNS history. Both sides were right in the mix at the pointy end of the 2025 finals series and played out one of the games of the season in its sole meeting in Darwin. With an appetite to play high-stakes, exhilarating football and lineups littered with match winners, this has the potential to live up to the billing and more.
Round 17 v Collingwood
If you weren’t there for the 2025 edition, you wish you were. One of the matches of the season had everything right down to Goal of the Year from Noah Anderson at a sold out People First Stadium. Two of the last six teams in the mix last season – scratch any plans for this weekend and lock in your seats.
Tickets for individual matches will be on sale at a later date with details to be communicated by the club. 2026 Gold Coast SUNS memberships are on sale now.
