One of the AFLW competition’s originals is locked in for an 11th campaign with inaugural SUNS Club Champion Jamie Stanton putting pen to paper on a new deal for the 2026 AFLW season.

Stanton will feature as the club’s only remaining foundation player in 2026, adding valuable experience to a young SUNS squad in what will be her eighth season in the red, gold and blue.

“I’m a Gold Coast girl and this club has been home for the vast majority of my career,” Stanton said.

“I pride myself on not only giving my all for this team but also passing on some of my experiences to the younger girls and doing my bit to help us take steps forward as a collective and chase success.

“We didn’t achieve the results we wanted to this season, but there’s a great mix of experience and really exciting young players coming through and I’m thrilled to continue playing a role in what’s building here on the Gold Coast.”

Stanton became just the third player to reach 50 AFLW games in SUNS colours in 2025. Last month, she also became the first player from the women’s program to receive Gold Coast SUNS life membership, recognising her exceptional contribution across the club’s seven AFLW campaigns.

Having worked closely with the StreetSmarts SUNS Academy squads in recent years, Stanton will provide a wealth of guidance to a squad now boasting 17 Academy graduates following Monday night’s Telstra AFLW Draft.
