The Gold Coast SUNS will have four representatives in next weekend’s AAMI AFL Origin with vice-captain Sam Collins locked in for the Big V.
Collins, will join captain Noah Anderson and Brownlow Medallist Matt Rowell in the Victorian line-up to face a Western Australia side featuring fellow SUNS defender Wil Powell next Saturday in Perth.
Since joining the SUNS in in 2018, Collins has earned a reputation as one of the AFL’s toughest defenders and earned selection in the extended All Australian squad for the first time in 2025.
The two-time SUNS Club Champion is set to reach 150 AFL games in his first match of the 2026 season.
Senior Coach Damien Hardwick congratulated Collins on the selection.
“Not only has Sam established himself as one of the best defenders in the competition, he has been a tremendous leader within our football club for many years,” Hardwick said.
“The chance to represent Victoria is a richly deserved opportunity for Sam and we look forward to seeing him, Noah, Matt and Wil all run out next Saturday in Perth.”
The 2026 AAMI AFL Origin match will be broadcast on Seven Network and Foxtel, as well as 7plus and Kayo streaming platforms.
