Five-time SUNS leading goalkicker Ben King is the latest addition to the Victorian squad to face Western Australia in this weekend’s AAMI AFL Origin.

King kicked a club record 71 goals in 2025 and will be the fifth SUNS player locked in to feature in Saturday evening’s match at Optus Stadium.

The 25-year-old will join captain Noah Anderson, Brownlow Medal winner Matt Rowell and two-time Club Champion Sam Collins in the Victorian lineup while Wil Powell will run out for Western Australia.

The selection sees the SUNS join Geelong and Fremantle with five representatives in the fixture, only topped by the Western Bulldogs with six.

SUNS Assistant Coach Shaun Grigg will also feature on the Victorian coaching panel.

King replaces Geelong forward Jeremy Cameron who has withdrawn from the match as he continues his recovery from the broken arm sustained in last year’s Grand Final.

“It’s pretty surreal to get the call-up and represent Victoria,” King said.

“You never want to come in off the back of someone else withdrawing, but I’m extremely proud and excited to get into camp and have the chance to wear the Big V and play with and against some of the best players on Saturday.”
