The AFL has today released Rounds 1-13 of the 2026 Smithy’s VFL fixture with matchups for Rounds 14 – 21 also locked in.
Gold Coast is in store for an exciting VFL campaign, featuring a line-up of VFL/AFL double-headers, two QClash opportunities and a historic match against one of two league additions.
To kickstart the season, the Gold Coast SUNS VFL squad are set to host Werribee on Sunday March 22 in what will be an exciting 2023 Grand Final rematch.
SUNS fans will also be treated to several curtain raisers when the Gold Coast host Essendon (Rd 4), GWS Giants (Rd 6), Brisbane Lions (Rd 11) and Box Hill Hawks (Rd13) ahead of the corresponding AFL matches.

Gold Coast locals can catch more of the Smithy’s VFL away action this year when the SUNS battle 2025 grand finalists Southport Sharks at Southport’s Fankhauser Reserve (Rd 3) and in the season closer QClash against the Lions (Rd 21 – venue TBC).
Round 16 marks the SUNS inaugural venture south to take on the Tasmanian Devils. The Devils are one of two teams to join the Smithy’s VFL competition in 2026.
While the following week’s clash against Footscray will be the first time the SUNS have faced the side since its 65-point demolition over the Dogs at Darwin’s TIO Stadium in 2023.
The top 10 teams on the Smithy’s VFL ladder at the conclusion of the home and away season will qualify for the finals series, which will commence with two Wildcard Finals on the weekend of August 22-23. The finals series will again be played across five weeks and will conclude with the 2026 Smithy’s VFL Grand Final on the weekend of September 19-20.
All matches in the 2026 Smithy’s VFL season will be broadcast live and free via AFL.com.au, the AFL Live Official App and the VFL App.
