The Gold Coast SUNS have re-signed 21-year-old Tom Lynch, extending his contract until the end of 2016.

Lynch, who has played 38 games for the GC SUNS, was contracted until the end of the 2014 season, however has extended his commitment for a further two seasons, becoming the fifteenth player to re-commit to the Club in 2013.

Taken with Pick 11 in the GC SUNS inaugural draft intake, Lynch is a leader in the making, currently captaining one of six teams in Arizona as part of the GC SUNS 2XU High Performance Camp.

At 199cm and 91kg, Lynch is a perfect size and shape, and with his running capacity, is capable of playing anywhere on the field.
In crediting Lynch's manager, Paul Connors, GC SUNS List Manager Scott Clayton was pleased to confirm Lynch’s contract extension.
“We are rapt that Tom has re-committed to the club until the end of 2016,” Clayton said.

“Tom is a quality young man, who is forging a great reputation as an emerging leader internally at the Gold Coast Football Club and that is coinciding with his continued progression as a player.”

Lynch told goldcoastfc.com.au he was extremely happy to re-commit to the Gold Coast SUNS.

“I’m excited at the direction the Club is heading and hopefully in the next two years we’ll be able to taste team success,” he said.

The Victorian is planning to add to his career tally in 2014, in particularly after his promising start to the 2013 season was cut short due to a posterior cruciate ligament injury sustained against Essendon in the side’s Round 12 fixture at Etihad Stadium, resulting in Lynch playing no further part in the 2013 Premiership.

“In the end it was probably a frustrating season, the team was going really well, and I just wanted to be out there with he boys, but I’m putting those injuries behind me as I can’t wait for 2014 .”

Lynch joins teammates that include Zac Smith, Trent McKenzie, Seb Tape, Jack Martin, Rory Thompson, Charlie Dixon, Dion Prestia, and Jaeger O’Meara who have all re-committed in 2013.
