Promoter TEG Dainty has relocated Australia’s newest major music festival, SandTunes, to a new venue. SandTunes, which was to be located at Coolangatta Beachfront, will now be hosted at Metricon Stadium in Carrara on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December.

The move has been welcomed by Kate Jones, Queensland Minister for Tourism, who thanked TEG Dainty for its decisiveness and for retaining the event on the Gold Coast.

TEG Dainty President and CEO Paul Dainty said the move would meet the needs of local business and residents whilst providing a great experience for festival goers, with single day passes now available from $129 at ticketek.com.au .

Younger fans will also get the opportunity to see their favourite acts as TEG Dainty has lowered the age limit for fans to buy tickets from 18+ to 15+ due to the change of venue and the line-up’s wide appeal.

SandTunes offers fans the best line-up of 2019, with all talent confirmed for the new venue, including TRAVIS SCOTT, LOGIC, DEAN LEWIS, JUICE WRLD, CARLY RAE JEPSEN, CHVRCHES and a host of leading domestic and international acts.

Paul Dainty said: “SandTunes is the must-see festival of 2019 because the line-up is incredible. It features Travis Scott’s only appearance in Australia, Logic’s first ever appearance in Australia and a ton of other fantastic acts including Australia’s own Dean Lewis.

“Despite our vision of staging SandTunes on the beach we’ve come to appreciate the many advantages of hosting it within a world class multi-purpose Metricon Stadium, which has a storied history of live music and festival events including Foo Fighters, the iconic Big Day Out and the blockbuster stadium show next February 2020 with Queen and Adam Lambert also promoted by TEG Dainty.”

Manager of Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast Suns CEO Mark Evans said: “Metricon Stadium is building a strong reputation as a world class regional entertainment venue that has a proven track record of delivering outstanding events and experiences and we are thrilled to be strengthening our association with TEG Dainty by welcoming SandTunes to Metricon Stadium this year.”

Commenting on the move, TEG Chief Executive Geoff Jones said: “While Coolangatta presented as the perfect backdrop to host this event, and despite Gold Coast City Council approval, it has become increasingly apparent that local businesses and residents are now not in favour of that location. We have listened - and we are acting.

“We are committed to bringing premium ‘A-list’ artists to this great city and this great state and regardless of venue, we can’t imagine SandTunes being staged anywhere else than the GC.”

Minister Kate Jones welcomed the move, saying: “This is one of the best line-ups that’s been assembled in Australia in recent history. It will bring thousands of tourists to the Gold Coast and pump millions into the economy. We’re committed to delivering world class events that support local jobs and grow the tourism industry. SandTunes will achieve just that.”

Fans from 15 years and upwards can now buy tickets to the event, with single day passes now available from just $129 at ticketek.com.au. Fans between the ages of 15-17 will need to be accompanied by an adult (18+).

Fans who have already purchased SandTunes tickets will automatically be upgraded to a PIT ZONE ticket. This ticket provides access to the dedicated PIT ZONE area located on the field, as well as access to chill out zone seating and an express lane at bar and food outlets. Current SandTunes ticket holders will be contacted directly by Ticketek.

Festival organisers have been involved in extensive local engagement with over 20 organisations and representative groups including Queensland Police Service and other State and Local Government regulatory authorities as well as key community leaders representing residents and businesses in the Coolangatta area (through what became the Precinct Advisory Group). The consultation process began two and half years ago.

SandTunes 2019 will create a financial windfall for the Gold Coast area, generating economic benefits of more than $10 million.
