Young SUNS defender Oscar Adams will remain in red, gold and blue for a further two seasons after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

The South Australian is the latest SUN to extend his stay on the Gold Coast, committing to the club until the end of 2028.

The 197cm key defender has played 20 AFL games since joining the club in last year’s mid-season rookie draft and has provided great versatility with the ability to play several roles down back.

He played all but two matches in the latter stages of the 2025 season following a Round 17 debut against Essendon and has been a regular in the SUNS backline in 2026.

The athletic key defender previously spent time on St Kilda’s list and was a driving force in Glenelg’s 2024 SANFL premiership team.

Gold Coast SUNS List and Recruiting Manager Kall Burns says Adams continues to make the most of his opportunities at his second AFL club.

“We’ve been pleased with Oscar’s dedication to making the most of his opportunities since joining our club last season and are thrilled to see him extend for a further two years,” Burns said.

“He offers great versatility for a player of his size, and at just 22 years old, we’re looking forward to see him continue to develop in the years ahead.”

Adams is the second SUN to sign on with the club in as many days, following StreetSmarts SUNS Academy product Jed Walter’s extension with his hometown club until 2029.
