Jarrod Witts’ storied tenure with the Gold Coast SUNS will continue for a further two seasons with the ruckman penning a new deal with the club.

The 217-game veteran will remain in the red, gold and blue until the end of 2028, taking his time with the club well beyond a decade.

Since joining from Collingwood at the end of 2016, Witts has been one of the SUNS’ finest servants having formed part of the leadership group for eight seasons from 2018, including six as co-captain from 2019 to 2024.

The 209cm ruck has been a pivotal figure in the club’s growth in recent seasons, playing a leading role in its charge to an inaugural finals appearance in 2025, which was also the first of his career.

The 2019 Club Champion sits in fifth position on the list of AFL/VFL career hitouts and trails only David Swallow and Touk Miller on Gold Coast’s all-time games list after joining the illustrious SUNS 200-game club in 2025.

GC SUNS List and Recruitment Manager Kall Burns says the club is pleased to have agreed an extension with the much-loved and highly-respected ruckman.

“He has been not only a mentor for his fellow ruckmen, but a role model for every player who has played alongside Jarrod throughout his time on the Gold Coast.”
