Anne Hatchard (28 disposals, 11 score involvements, six intercept possessions) was a standout in her third game in SUNS colours. The experienced midfielder was dominant around the ground, bringing her experience to the contest and making an impact through the midfield and forward line.

 

StreetSmarts SUNS Academy product Ava Usher (two goals, seven score involvements, five tackles) was influential early, setting the tone with her pressure around the contest. The young SUN worked hard to impact the game with her tackling and willingness to put her body on the line.

 

Up forward, Havana Harris (three goals, 20 disposals) was lively from the opening bounce, hitting the scoreboard and providing a strong target inside 50. Her strength and ability to compete in the forward line kept the pressure on the Cats' defence throughout all four quarters.

 

Charlie Rowbottom (39 disposals, five clearances, seven i50s) produced another dominant performance, working tirelessly around the contest and continuing to lead from the front in the midfield. Her ability to win the ball and compete at stoppages kept her heavily involved throughout the contest.

 

Lily Quigley (12 disposals, one goal) was lively early, continuing to provide plenty of speed and energy in attack. The youngster found the goals in the second quarter and repeatedly used her pace to create space and put herself in dangerous positions with ball in hand.

 

Sunny Lappin (11 disposals, four score involvements) continued to show why she is one to watch, bringing her class and composure around the ground. The young SUN was involved in plenty of the action and showed plenty of promise when the SUNS were in attack.

 

Darcie Davies (19 disposals, 21 hit outs, five contested marks) made an impact across both the ruck and forward line, using her strength to take several strong contested marks around the ground. Her ability to compete aerially and provide a strong presence around the ground.

 

Coming out of defence, Niamh McLaughlin (24 disposals) and Daisy D’Arcy (16 disposals, seven tackles) provided plenty of run and carry, using their speed and accuracy to help launch the SUNS forward. Both defenders worked hard to create options out of the back half and remained composed.

 

Annabel Kievit (5 intercept possessions, 5 tackles) was strong as the last line of defence, standing up in several important one-on-one contests and refusing to give her opponent an easy possession. Her strength in the contest helped hold firm against the Cats' forward entries.

 

In a close game between the SUNS and Cats, there were plenty of positives to take from the Round 3 contest, with the young SUNS continuing to gain valuable AFLW experience alongside an experienced core.
