The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to announce a new community partnership with Surf Life Saving clubs on the Gold Coast.
The community partnership aligns the SUNS with Surf Life Saving Queensland's South Coast and Point Danger branches, bringing together several iconic Gold Coast institutions with deep roots in the local community and a shared commitment to supporting families and delivering positive community outcomes.
Launching as thousands of surf lifesaving volunteers prepare to patrol Gold Coast beaches for the 2027 season, the initiative is aimed at strengthening connections across the Gold Coast while promoting active lifestyles, community engagement and beach safety.
The collaboration, encompassing Surf Life Saving clubs from Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island to Rainbow Bay on the Queensland-New South Wales border, will create new and exclusive opportunities for more than 33,000 Gold Coast SUNS members and members across the South Coast and Point Danger branches.
Key initiatives will include Gold Coast SUNS player appearances, community events, beach safety education, volunteer recognition programs and family-focused experiences at both SUNS matches and surf lifesaving events.
Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Officer Mark Evans said the partnership is a natural fit between iconic Gold Coast entities.
“We’re thrilled to have joined forces with Surf Life Saving clubs on the Gold Coast as part of an exciting community partnership,” Evans said.
“Surf Life Saving is part of the fabric of the Gold Coast community and shares many of the values that are important to our football club.
“Many of the 34 StreetSmarts SUNS Academy players in our AFL and AFLW squads, have been heavily involved in Surf Life Saving clubs, including the likes of Jed Walter, Lucy Single, Ava Usher, Jai Murray and many more.
“Our club and the Surf Life Saving clubs on the Gold Coast are all passionate about making positive contributions within our local communities and we’re excited to work together to create meaningful experiences for our members, promote healthy and active lifestyles and continue building strong connections across the Gold Coast.”
Point Danger Branch President Jared Clark said, “Like the Gold Coast SUNS, our clubs play an important role in bringing communities together and this partnership creates a fantastic opportunity to extend that impact. We're excited about the opportunities it will provide for volunteers, members and families across our branch."
South Coast Branch President George Hill added, “This partnership and connecting with the Gold Coast SUNS and its community will provide great opportunities for our members, particularly young people and families. We’re looking forward to working together with the SUNS to bring some great initiatives to life.”
