Gold Coast fans will have the opportunity to welcome three new SUNS to the club in the coming months following the conclusion of the Free Agency and Continental Tyres AFL Trade Periods.

The two-week period closed at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday night with the SUNS executing two trades and farewelling Ben King as a free agent.

VFL/AFL games record holder Scott Pendlebury will continue his storied career in red, gold and blue following a trade with Collingwood. He is one third of the new SUNS trio with key forward Aidan Schubert and versatile forward Sam Butler an exciting pair of young talents to also arrive at the club.

Gold Coast also received a first-round selection, currently Pick 8, in this year’s Telstra AFL Draft as free agency compensation following King’s departure to Hawthorn.

“We’re pleased with what we have been able to achieve throughout this year’s free agency and trade periods, in line with our strategy,” Gold Coast SUNS List and Recruitment Manager Kall Burns said.

“We have brought three players to our club in Scott Pendlebury, Aidan Schubert and Sam Butler. All three add variety of strengths to our squad and bolster our list heading into 2027 and beyond.”

“Additionally, through free agency, we have acquired a first-round selection in this year’s Telstra AFL Draft which will allow us to bring another top talent to our club before Tasmania’s entry.”

“We anticipate growth from within our current list, which along with the additions we’ve made throughout this period, will place us in a strong position to be contending  in 2027."
