SUNS co-captain David Swallow has finished as runner-up in the 2019 Gold Coast Club Champion.

The skipper polled 417 votes to finish ahead of third-placed Darcy Macpherson on 368.

Swallow played every game in 2019, averaging 23 disposals, four marks and four tackles per game.

Elevated to the co-captaincy prior to the beginning of the season, Swallow has embodied the club’s values this season both on and off the field.

His leadership has been crucial to the club’s development in 2019 and he continues to be one of the most highly-respected players at the SUNS.

On the field, the 26-year-old has been courageous and fearless, never hesitating to put his head over the football or go up for a contested mark.

This is Swallow’s second finish as runner-up in the Club Champion after he won the highest honour in 2014.
