The Giants have run away victors in comprehensive fashion against the Gold Coast SUNS by 38 points at Blacktown International Sports Park today.

A red hot first half saw the home team with a 50-point buffer at the main break, with the Giants just simply too good on the day to emerge 14.10 (94) to 8.8 (56) winners.

Both sides were evenly matched heading in to the game, with the SUNS fielding 14 AFL-listed players and the Giants with 15.

A six-goal-to-one opening term from the hosts set the tone early, with Ian ‘Bobby’ Hill producing the highlight with a snap from the pocket in his debut match for the club.

The Giants dominated around the contests in the first half, using their run and carry to great effect.

Gold Coast managed to stem the flow in the third where only three goals between the two sides were kicked, and they will take confidence from winning the last quarter to reduce the final margin.

The Giants were led by ball magnet Nick Shipley who finished with 32 disposals, and Zach Sproule who bagged five goals.

For the SUNS, the experienced head of Aaron Young was a shining light finishing with 38 disposals and a goal, whilst Michael Rischitelli and Josh Schoenfeld both kicked a goal and found 27 disposals each as well.

With the win on Saturday, the Giants registered their first victory of the season and take on the Swans next week at Blacktown.

The SUNS face the red-hot Lions in a curtain raiser to the QClash at Metricon Stadium next week.
