The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm scans have revealed forward Alex Sexton has suffered a small tear in his right hamstring.

Sexton who came from the ground in the third quarter of the club’s second Marsh Community series game against the Crows, was unable to return to the field.

General Manager Football Operations Jon Haines confirmed the news after scans on Monday morning.

“Scans in his hamstring have confirmed a small tear. At this stage, Alex is not ruled out for round one and we will monitor his progress over the next two weeks.  Haines said.

“Alex has a had a great pre-season and we know it’s a long season, so we’ll give him every opportunity to recover fully and set him up to play the rest of the year.”

Jarrod Witts, Izak Rankine, Ben King and Sean Lemmens are all set to resume full training this week as the team prepares for Round 1 against Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.
