The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm Izak Rankine has endured a setback in his preparations ahead of the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Rankine was sent for scans following an incident whilst training in the build up to Round 1, with results confirming the small forward had sustained a low-grade hamstring strain.

“Scans on his hamstring have confirmed a low-grade strain.  We are all looking forward to Izak returning to the main group as soon as possible and pressing his claims for AFL selection,” General Manager Football Operations, Jon Haines said.

As confirmed earlier today, Jarrod Witts, Jarrod Harbrow, Pearce Hanley and Jack Hombsch have all integrated back into full training throughout the last fortnight.

The Gold Coast SUNS will host Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium, this Saturday at a revised time of 6.40pm, as part of Round 1 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
