The Gold Coast SUNS Academy season has drawn to a close for both male and females across all age groups.

In total the Academy has coordinated, organised and delivered 24 matches across 10 weeks of football, with six of those coming in an intra-regions Academy Series in Lismore.

Gold Coast’s Academy Manager Jason Torney said it had been another successful season for the Academy.

“We’re incredibly proud of what our players and staff have been able to achieve, particularly over the last couple of months,” Torney told SUNS Media.

“In that time our Under 18 male side took out the NAB League for the first time and our Under 18 female side had four wins from five matches.

“Our Under 16 male and female sides both went through undefeated and our Under 17 boys also played well against a Queensland representative side.

“These results show how successful our Academy is becoming to provide a pathway for these boys and girls to go on and become Gold Coast SUNS players.”

Overall the SUNS Academy was represented in 18 games with a record of 13 wins and five losses across all age groups and genders.

The next step for SUNS Academy players is more representative football with Allies and Queensland squad performances over the coming months.
