It came down to the final minutes but the SUNS weren’t able to get across the line against Melbourne in Round 6.

Voting has now opened for the Austworld Player of the Round after some standout individual performances.

Izak Rankine will have the AFL world talking after dazzling in his debut match, kicking a game-high three goals from his 12 disposals while also being involved in a game-high eioght scores for the SUNS.

In the midfield it was Hugh Greenwood and Touk Miller who set the tone, with Greenwood accumulating 18 disposals and a game-high 12 tackles while Miller had 23 disposals and five tackles.

Defensive pair Sam Collins and Charlie Ballard were brick walls in defence, keeping the SUNS in the match with some sensational intercepting and defensive efforts.

Ballard finished with a leading 11 intercept possessions and three contested marks from 15 disposals while Collins had 10 intercept possessions, 15 disposals and seven marks.

Brandon Ellis kicked two goals for the highlights reel while also having 16 disposals.

Defender Jack Lukosius also played well with 18 disposals, five rebound 50’s and 457 metres gained.
