Nathan Bock has challenged his teammates to repeat the effort and intensity that was evident against Essendon a week ago during the teams clash with North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The GC SUNS vice captain today said he was confident that the team would rise to the challenge.
“We set a benchmark against the Bombers; we have shown we can do it, we now have to learn to be consistent.”
“While we understand we need to be patient, effort is something we must demand, if we have a real go and we are simply not good enough that’s fine, but effort is the key.”
Bock said that once the GC SUNS were consistent in their effort the team’s strategy could be implemented.
“That has been the disappointing thing, we could have the best strategies in place to win, but if we don’t play with the effort or intensity required at this level we simply don’t give ourselves a chance to execute our game plan.”
Bock said the mood around the club had been extremely positive despite Saturday nights result and the loss of Gary Ablett and Jarrod Harbrow.
“We will miss Gaz and Harbs, but injury creates opportunity and everyone has been on their toes wanting to make amends for last week.
“The review was confronting but positive, and we understand that we all have to work hard together to get ourselves back to where we want to be, it cant be just one or two player’s responsibility, it’s the teams.”
The GC SUNS will travel to Melbourne on Friday, prior to Saturday’s match at Etihad Stadium kicking off at 4:40pm.
