The Gold Coast SUNS have suffered another blow, with midfielder Michael Rischitelli rolling his left ankle during training at Metricon Stadium on Wednesday.
Rischitelli left the training track immediately to receive treatment from club medicos.
GC SUNS General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said Rischitelli would receive ongoing treatment over the next 48 hours and would give him every opportunity to play against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
“Unfortunately Michael rolled his ankle during training this morning,
“We will keep a close watch on him over the next couple of days and hope that he will be able to complete Friday’s training session before the team flies out.”
Ashcroft said Rischitelli was extremely important to the team.
“Michael will be required to play a significant role on the weekend, so we will need him to be passed fit to play, if not we wouldn’t be in a position to play him this week.”
Still on the injury front, David Swallow was a no show on the training track today, the GC SUNS young midfielder remains under an injury cloud after suffering a severe knock to the hip during last week’s match against Brisbane at the Gabba.
Similar to Rischitelli, the GC SUNS will be hoping that Swallow will be able to training with the team before flying to Melbourne.
