Wind the clock back a few years and Rory Thompson was a 15 year old, waiting to be presented with his Under 16s Gold Coast Stingrays representative jumper. Fast forward to the present and Rory is now presenting Stingray jumpers to aspiring AFL footballers in front of a crowd of 500 people at the Surfers Paradise AFC. On the eve of the Queensland Under 16 State Championships, Rory was announced as the special guest for the Gold Coast Stingrays jumper presentation; not only handing out jumpers to the players, but reflecting on his experiences within the Stingray development program.

Through events such as this, the Gold Coast SUNS continue to maintain their solid partnership with grass roots football. Supporting not only the AFL Gold Coast Junior League, but also with the Gold Coast Stingrays development program.

The Gold Coast SUNS wish both the Northern and Southern Stingray teams all the best as they prepare to tackle the other Queensland regions in the State Championships, commencing at Yeronga AFC on Sunday the 29th of April.

Good luck boys, we know you will do the Gold Coast proud.
