The Gold Coast SUNS are set to invite Andrew Boston to train with the club in the lead up to the pre-season and rookie draft.
Boston, 18, who plays for the Broadbeach Cats was overlooked at last Thursday’s NAB AFL Draft, despite being selected in the Under 18 All Australian team.
GC SUNS General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, said the club was looking forward to having a close look at the local youngster.
"We have watched Andrew develop over the past couple of years as a member of our Gold Coast SUNS talent academy and as a top up player for our NEAFL team."
“This provides Andrew a fantastic opportunity to experience training in an elite environment with an AFL team and gives him every chance at securing a spot on an AFL list.”
The GC SUNS have also invited former Frankston VFL player, Leigh Osborne, to train with the club prior to the draft to be held on December 11.
AFL list establishment rules allow the GC SUNS to have up to nine rookies on its list on 2013.
Queenslander Josh Hall retains his spot on the rookie list in 2013.
Ashcroft said the GC SUNS will finalise their intensions for the rookie draft in the coming weeks.
