SUNS co-captain Jarrod Witts has finished third in Gold Coast’s 2020 Club Champion in the closest vote count in recent years.

Witts was a single vote from the lead with just one game remaining in the season, but was overtaken in Round 18 and finished 13 votes shy of claiming his second Club Champion award.

After being crowned the 2019 Club Champion, Witts backed up his record-breaking year with another consistent campaign in 2020.

The ruckman played all 17 games and finished second in the AFL in hitouts, averaging 28 per game.

Witts ranked above average in 14 different statistical categories this season and confirmed his place in the upper echelon of ruckman in the AFL.

His best performance came in the Round 4 victory over Fremantle where he amassed 38 hitouts (15 to advantage), five marks and three clearances.

Heading into his ninth season in 2021, the 28-year-old will be looking to continue his form with another consistent campaign.
