Key forward Peter Wright will depart the Gold Coast SUNS after a trade was secured with Essendon.

The trade sees the SUNS receive a future fourth round selection in the 2021 AFL Draft in exchange for the 24-year-old who played 66 games over six years at the club and kicked 85 goals.

SUNS General Manager – Football Operations Jon Haines thanked Wright for his service.

“Peter has been a popular and respected teammate during his time at the SUNS and we appreciate the contribution he has made,” Haines said.

“We wish Peter and his partner Ellie all the best for what lies ahead.”

The SUNS will head into the 2020 NAB AFL draft with selections 5, 27, 37, 76 and 84.
