The Gold Coast SUNS will play the Brisbane Lions in the 2021 AAMI Community Series at Metricon Stadium on Monday 8 March.
The AFL has today announced an updated fixture for the 2021 AAMI Community Series which will see all teams play one match in their home state from Thursday, March 4 to Monday March 8, 2021.
Matches scheduled in Victoria will remain unchanged while Clubs in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia will play a match against the other team from their respective state, as detailed below:
Monday March 8
- Gold Coast SUNS v Brisbane Lions to be played at Metricon Stadium at 6:10pm AEST
AFL Executive General Manager of Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said the decision to revise the fixture was made to minimise risk by avoiding travel for the men’s programs prior to the home-and-away season.
“The AAMI Community Series continues to play an important role for AFL clubs and supporters across the country and we thank everyone in the game for their understanding as we continue to work through the safest and most straightforward options for players, staff and supporters,” Mr Auld said.
“The changes to the fixture are consistent with the league’s approach to best managing the risks around COVID by minimising travel for teams where possible across both the men’s and women’s programs.”
All 2021 AAMI Community Series matches will be broadcast live on FOX FOOTY, Kayo and through the Official AFL LIVE App, thanks to Telstra.
As per previous years, all Gold Coast SUNS members with match-day access will receive complimentary access to the game. Further information on ticket redemption will be sent directly to members in the coming days.
This weekend's practice match against Brisbane Lions will be held behind closed doors, as per AFL directive.
Under AFL Broadcasting Guidelines goldcoastfc.com.au will be unable to live-stream the match as it conflicts with a live NAB AFLW Premiership fixture.
