SUNS midfielder Hugh Greenwood believes the team is close to breaking through for its second win of the 2021 season after four rounds of competitive football so far.

The SUNS have been in winning positions in every game this season and Greenwood said the team wasn’t far off converting the close finishes into victories.

“We’ve been in that many games it’s just execution that has been letting us down,” Greenwood said.

“We’ve shown that for the majority of games we’ve actually been on top but it’s just been little lapses that have let us down and ultimately cost us in close games.

We believe that the players we have, the brand we have, the style we have can match up and it’s shown that.

“If we can just tidy up those couple of areas we’re quite excited about where we’re heading and what we’re capable of.”

The team has a great challenge ahead as Round 5 sees the SUNS come up against the red-hot Western Bulldogs.

The Dogs are yet to lose in 2021, but Greenwood said that wasn’t playing into the minds of the SUNS playing group.

“The Dogs are obviously playing some incredible footy but we’ve seen across the competition that anyone can beat anyone on their day,” Greenwood said.

“Like every game, we go in with an expectation to win.

“We’ve got guys that are stepping up and playing some really good footy and guys that are getting opportunities that might not have got some through injuries.

“They’re all excited and keen to play.”

The match at Marvel Stadium gets underway at 4:35pm on Saturday, with the team being announced on Friday evening.
