Gold Coast SUNS Assistant Coach Josh Francou has informed the club of his desire to relocate to Adelaide at the end of the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

With strong links to family back in their hometown, Adelaide, Josh and his wife have decided that Adelaide is the best place to be for their family.

General Manager Football Jon Haines said although he was “disappointed” to lose a coach of that calibre family must come first.

"Gold Coast SUNS assistant coach Josh Francou has informed the club of his desire to relocate to Adelaide for family reasons at the end of the 2021 season,” Haines said.

"While we're disappointed to be losing someone of Josh’s experience, the club respects the decision and welcomes his openness in advising us early and allowing us to undertake a well-considered plan to find a suitable replacement for 2022.”

Francou joined the club from the Adelaide Crows at the end of the 2018 season bringing with him a a broad range of football experience.

In his three seasons with the SUNS, his strong teaching background and technical expertise has complemented the SUNS coaching group, whilst playing a key role in the development of in particular our midfield group.

Francou will continue in his role for the remainder of the season and look to ensure the club and its players continue to strive for improvement on field.
