The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to announce the re-signing of exciting young talent Jeremy Sharp until the end of the 2023 season.

Sharp had his best of a string of impressive VFL matches on the weekend, recording 33 disposals and a goal in the come-from-behind win over Aspley.

The 19-year-old joined the SUNS with pick 27 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft after the club traded up the order to secure the athletic Western Australian.

He made his AFL debut in Round 10, 2020 and played two games in his debut season with the club.

The dashing wingman said he was keen to continue his career with the SUNS.

“I’ve been thinking about it for a while now and I’m just really excited with where the group is at… it just makes me want to stay so I’m rapt to re – sign,” Sharp said.

“I’m pretty excited to keep putting my foot down and keep getting better to hopefully be a part of something pretty special at the SUNS.”

Sharp has been a consistent player at VFL level this year, playing six games and averaging 25 disposals and seven marks per game.

Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Football Jon Haines said Sharp was an important part of the club’s future.

“Jeremy has shown great commitment to his development since joining the club and has earned the respect of his team mates with his dedication to being an elite athlete. He’s playing at a consistently high level in the VFL and we have no doubt that he has all the attributes to be a long – term player with the Gold Coast SUNS,” Haines said.

The SUNS take on Southport in the VFL this Saturday at the Carrara Sports and Leisure centre, with first bounce at 11am.
