The Gold Coast SUNS traded up the order to select Jeremy Sharp with pick 27 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft. An outside medium midfielder blessed with very good speed and a penetrating long kick, Sharp is one of three players to earn dual All-Australian selection in the last two years. Sharp stood out in the 2019 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 21 disposals (15.8 uncontested possessions) to be among Western Australia’s best.
Sharp’s decision-making combined with his attacking field kicking has him pinned as a player with some of the most upside from the 2019 draft. The 18-year-old fills a need for the SUNS with his running abilities and will be looking to make an impact in 2020.
