The Gold Coast SUNS signed Luke Towey as a Category B Rookie in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft period. Starring as a Gaelic footballer since a young age, the Irishman impressed SUNS recruiters with his speed, agility and willingness to learn the game. Possessing great athletic prowess and elite speed, the 20-year-old prospect clocked an exciting time of 2.82 seconds for the 20m sprint and 7.93 in the agility test in 2019. Towey joins a growing list of gaelic footballers to be signed to an AFL list and will learn the game in 2020 with the help of fellow countryman Pearce Hanley.
