Gold Coast SUNS is inviting members, supporters and creatives to submit a guernsey design that could be worn by the club during Sir Doug Nicholls Round (SDNR) in 2027. This competition offers a unique opportunity for the community to help create a design that reflects culture, storytelling and connection.

Entries open 10:00am AEST on Monday 1st June 2026 and close 11:59pm AEST on Sunday 28th June 2026.

Submitting your entry

To take part in the competition, complete the steps below:

    Download the official SUNS SDNR guernsey design template using the provided link.
  2. Create your guernsey design
    Develop your Sir Doug Nicholls Round guernsey concept using the template.
  3. Submit your entry
    Upload your completed design along with your personal details via the submission link.

  • Accepted file formats: JPG, PNG or WebP
  • PDF files cannot be accepted and will not be reviewed

COMPETITION – TERMS & CONDITIONS

Promoter

1. The promoter is Gold Coast Football Club Limited (ABN 47 144 555 822), of 296 Nerang-Broadbeach Road, Carrara QLD 4211 (“Promoter” or “GCFC” or Gold Coast SUNS).

Eligibility

2. Entry is open to First Nations Australian residents.
3. Entrants under 18 years of age must have parental/guardian approval.
4. Directors and Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and associated agencies are ineligible.

Promotion Period

5. The competition commences on Monday 1st June 2026 at 10:00am AEST and closes on Sunday 28th June 2026 at 11:59am AEST.

How to Enter

6. Eligible Entrants must the steps as outlined below

  • Access the design template by downloading the official SUNS SDNR guernsey design template via this link.
  • Create your guernsey design – Development of your Sir Doug Nicholls Round guernsey concept must be done using the template
  • Submit your entry - upload your completed design along with your personal details via the submission link.
  • Accepted file formats : JPG, PNG or WebP      

Judging Criteria and Entry Content Standards

7. The prize winner will be selected via a Judging Panel appointed by the Promoter.
8. Designs will be assessed on their storytelling, visual expression, cultural respect and the emotional connection with the Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
9. One design will be selected as the winning design by the judging panel and two other designs will be selected ass a 2nd and 3rd
10. Entries must not contain material that is offensive, defamatory, unlawful or infringes on any third party rights, including intellectual property rights. Any entry that does not meet these requirements will be deemed invalid.
11. Entrants warrant that the design is their original work,

12. Three (3) prizes will be awarded:

  • First Prize (valued at $4000 AUD)

Notification of Winner

13. The prize winner will be notified via phone call within 7 days of the selection to organise the claiming of their prize. The result of the competition is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. The winners name will be published on www.goldcoastfc.com.au from the day that the prize winners are selected

Prize Conditions

14. Prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and any non cash prize is not redeemable for cash. If unclaimed after 3 months, the judging panel reserve the right to select another prize winner.
15. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of equal value if unavailable.
16. The selected designer will be required to enter into a separate artist agreement with Gold Coast SUNS and AFL. This agreement will govern artwork use, licensing approvals and payment.
17. The selected design may be subject to minor refinement, developed in consultation with Gold Coast SUNS, to ensure suitability for on field wear, production requirements and league guidelines, while maintaining the integrity and original story of the design.
18. The winning design may be produced for on field guernseys worn by Gold Coast SUNS AFL and AFLW teams, as well as a retail replica guernsey.
19. The winning designer will not receive royalties or commission from the manufacture or sale of the guernsey or any related merchandise.
20. By accepting the prize, the winning designer agrees to licence their design to Gold Coast SUNS and the AFL in accordance with a separate artist agreement.
21. Under that agreement, the designer assigns to the Promoter and/or the AFL all rights, title and interest in the submitted design, including copyright and intellectual property rights, and provides any necessary moral rights consents.
22. Should any match worn guernseys be auctioned, all proceeds will be retained by Gold Coast SUNS.

General Conditions

23. Participation in this competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
24. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to invalidate any entries (and entrants who submit or cause those entries to be submitted) which it reasonably suspects have been submitted:

  • using false, incorrect, fraudulent or misleading information, including but not limited to personal details and contact information;
  • through the use of multiple identities, email addresses or accounts; and/or
  • in any way in contravention of these Terms and Conditions

25. The Promoter may cancel, suspend, or modify the competition due to unforeseen circumstances.
26. The Promoter is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
27. The Promoter reserves the right to request that the winner provide proof of identity prior to awarding the prize. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. Prize winner may be required to sign any form required by the Promoter including without limitation a legal release and indemnity form or a declaration confirming their eligibility to accept the prize
28. If any prize (or part of any prize) is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority
29. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought. Where the operation of this competition results in, for GST purposes, supplies being made for non-monetary consideration, Eligible Entrants agree to follow the Australian Taxation Office’s stated view that where the parties are at arm’s length, goods and services exchanged are of equal GST inclusive market values.
30. Unless the contrary intention appears, a reference in these terms or in any advertisement relating to this competition, to Australian dollars, dollars, AUD$ or $ is a reference to the lawful currency of Australia. All references to dollar amounts are inclusive of goods and services tax (GST).

Governing Law

33. This competition is governed by the laws of Australia.
