Gold Coast fans will have the chance to see their SUNS in action in the lead-up to the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season following the confirmation of the 2022 AAMI Community Series fixtures.

The SUNS will host 2021 Preliminary Finalists Geelong at Metricon Stadium on Monday, March 7, 6.40pm start local time.

AFL Head of Broadcasting and Scheduling Marcus King said the league would continue with the model used in 2021 which sees teams play in a pre-season practice match prior to participating in the AAMI Community Series.

“The decision to proceed with this model was made in consultation with Clubs as we look to safeguard the health and safety of the competition and the community by minimising travel prior to the Toyota AFL Premiership Season. Equally, this arrangement provides Clubs with the ability to determine individual requirements to best prepare for the season ahead,” Mr. King said.

“The AAMI Community Series plays an important role for both AFL clubs and supporters and we are proud to have AAMI as the naming-rights partner for this upcoming Series as we welcome AFL fans back to each venue following an interrupted 2021 season as a result of the ongoing pandemic.”

The SUNS will also take on the Brisbane Lions in a pre-season practice match in the weeks before the March 7 fixture against Geelong. Details of that match will be confirmed closer to the date.

Ticketing arrangements for the 2022 AAMI Community will be advised in due course with all clubs to have a minimum seven-day break between pre-season practice matches and the AAMI Community Series.

All 2022 AAMI Community Series matches will be broadcast live on FOX FOOTY and Kayo.
