Gold Coast SUNS AFLW Superstars named amongst the competition’s best 22 players under the age of 22.

Charlie Rowbottom, Ellie Hampson and Claudia Whitfort have each been chosen by the game’s fans as part of the AFL Players Association Best 22Under22.

First-year SUN, Rowbottom was named in the starting midfield group and received 73% of the votes as she took the competition by storm earning herself the Rising Star Nomination along the way.

Hampson and Whitfort featured in the AFLPA 22under22 side for the first time in their careers.

As a club, the SUNS featured the most representatives throughout the team alongside Queensland rivals the Brisbane Lions.

The AFLPA 22Under22, presented by Snaffle, is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under for the entirety of the AFLW season (including Grand Final day – April 4).

The concept was first introduced in 2013 in the men’s competition to reward the young players who make an impact on their club and the competition so early in their careers.

This is the third iteration of the AFLW 22Under22.

Those selected in the final team are presented with a custom-made 22Under22 jumper, while the Captain and Vice-Captain will also receive a gift from Snaffle.
