Jarrod Witts (RUC): $681,000

With AFL Fantasy opening up for the 2019 season, the team at goldcoastfc.com.au have combed through the list to pick five potential selections from the SUNS. Kicking off the series is Gold Coast’s highest averaging player from last season, Jarrod Witts.

Witts played all 22 games last season to finish with an average of 93.8, which placed him fourth in the competition amongst ruckmen.

The 26-year-old was dominant in the ruck, averaging 39 hit-outs per game and also followed up around the ground with close to 14 touches per game.

With Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy set to be a popular pick for Fantasy coaches, there is still plenty of debate on who will fill that vital second ruck spot.

Witts would likely be a point-of-difference in this regard and has shown he has the consistency to be a reliable option.

He has a high ceiling with 140 being his best performance last year, which included 25 disposals, 34 hit-outs and five tackles against North Melbourne in round one.

Granted, that was in torrential conditions where a clean possession was rare, but it still shows Witts has the athletic capacity to back up his tap-work.

At $681,000, Witts would be a set and forget ruck option, but for coaches who are confident he can maintain or improve on his 2018 form, the 209cm ruckman would be a dependable choice in the Classic format.
