Gold Coast SUNS VFL will challenge local rivals Southport Sharks at Metricon Stadium on Saturday as a curtain raiser to the senior match.

The SUNS sit just percentage points outside the top eight with one game in hand.

A win against the second placed Sharks would help firm their likelihood of playing finals football this season.

Rory Atkins and Jeremy Sharp are possible inclusions to the VFL side and will an experience boost against a dominant Sharks side.

Atkins, Sharp, Jack Bowes and Brayden Fiorini are currently named as emergencies in the AFL side with one of those to be named AFL medi-sub, which will be determined on the day of the match.

The SUNS will look to build form after taking a 69 point victory into the Round 20 bye.

The Sharks have fallen to Essendon and Collingwood’s VFL sides in weeks and will be eager to atone for the rare consecutive losses.

Match attendees are reminded that the game forms part of the ticketed AFL event and a valid ticket will be required at the gate.

Gold Coast SUNS VFL will take on Southport Sharks on Saturday at Metricon Stadium with Gate 3 open from 12:30, with first bounce at 12:35pm.
