GC SUNS duo Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell have been selected in the AFLPA 22Under22 squad.

22Under22 is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best players aged 22 and under with players rewarded for their consistency across the season.

The initial 44-man squad was picked by Chair of Selectors, Michael Barlow, and an internal selection panel at the AFL Players’ Association, with support from Champion Data.

After signing a long-term extension at the beginning of 2023, Anderson has been a consistent contributor in the SUNS midfield this season, ranking #8 in the AFL for total clearances and sitting inside the top echelon for disposals, contested possessions and ground ball gets.

Rowell has reaffirmed himself as one of the AFL’s finest inside midfielders, ranking #1 for tackles, #4 in clearances, #5 in contested possessions and #7 for ground ball gets.

Anderson was previously selected in the final 22-player team in 2022, while Rowell was also among the extended squad last season, he will be eyeing a first selection in the final side in 2023.

Voting for the final 22 closes at midnight tonight with the final side to be revealed on August 23.
