The Gold Coast Football Club were guest visitors of the Gold Coast Hospitals Childrens ward this week, as part of the Hospitals Radio Lollipop program.

Radio Lollipop is an international organisation founded 25 years ago to provide care, comfort, play and entertainment for children and young people, primarily in hospitals. The service to children and young people is provided entirely by volunteers who have been especially selected, and trained to make a child’s stay in hospital more fun and less frightening.

GCFC Players Daniel Harris and Michael Coad took part in the visit which saw both of the players visit the wards of many of the children. The players provided a showbag and a GCFC football to each of the children, which will remain as a memento long after the players have left the hospital.

GCFC Community Programs Officer Corey Bell said: “ To see the joy on each of the children’s faces as the players entered the room, signified how important these visits are to the children and their families ”.

Rob Comer the Special Guest Coordinator at Radio Lollipop Gold Coast said: “This is one of the best visits we have ever had here at the Radio Lollipop. The children loved the Showbags and GCFC footies they received and thought both Michael and Daniel were amazing “.

The club look forward to supporting this program in the future and will be involved in the Radio Lollipop program that will begin at Pindara Private Hospital later this year.
