Gold Coast SUNS youngster Alana Gee is set to make her AFLW debut in Saturday’s Round 1 clash against Carlton at Ikon Park.

Hailing from Mackay, Gee is a skilful midfielder who was taken by the SUNS with Pick 19 in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft from the North Mackay Saints/Southport Sharks.

After missing the entire Season Seven campaign with a back injury, the 19-year-old will become the latest SUNS Academy graduate to represent the club at AFLW level this Saturday.

Head Coach Cameron Joyce is excited about what Gee will add to the SUNS side.

“We’re thrilled to see Alana earn the opportunity to play her first AFLW game on Saturday,” Joyce said.

“She is a clean user of the ball, skilled on both sides of the body and displays plenty of composure for such a young player.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what she can bring to our side in the first of many games for the Gold Coast SUNS.”

Gee is as a previous Under 18 All-Australian and member of the NAB AFLW Academy with the ability to play both as an inside midfielder or on the wing.

The SUNS will name its full Round 1 team to face the Blues on Thursday evening.
