The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm Steven King will depart the club to take up a coaching opportunity in Victoria.

King has served as Senior Assistant Coach with the SUNS for the last two seasons, taking on the added responsibility as Interim Coach in 2023 following the departure of Stuart Dew.

Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell thanked King for the impact he had made on the club and playing group.

“Steven has had a large impact on our club in two years, especially in the back half of this year where he took on the role of Interim Coach to close out the season,” Campbell said.

“We respect his decision to return to Victoria with his family and wish them all the best for the future.”

King coached seven AFL games from Round 18 this year, for a record of two wins and five losses.

The club will now take time to assess the opportunity to add to the coaching group for 2024.
