The Gold Coast SUNS have come out of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period with a strengthened position ahead of the 2023 NAB AFL Draft in November.
The SUNS executed every element of its strategy heading into the Trade Period, maximising its selection in this year’s draft to be in a position to match Academy bids, while also acquiring future selections for next year’s draft.
As a result of trading out Pick 4 which would have been consumed by Academy bids, the club has been able to accumulate a total of 3,877 draft value index points, with the ability to further trade selections in the lead up to and on the night of the national draft.
The club was also able to strike trades for Mabior Chol, Chris Burgess and Elijah Hollands who were all looking for greater opportunity at AFL level.
The 2023 AFL Draft will be held across two evenings on November 20 and 21.
