Jed Walter is officially a Gold Coast SUNS AFL-listed player after the club matched a bid on the key forward prospect at Pick 3.

Walter received a bid from North Melbourne, with the SUNS quick to match and ensure Walter became a SUN.

Gold Coast SUNS National Recruiting Manager said the club was thrilled to officially welcome Walter to the AFL program.

“It’s been a long wait but we’re really excited to finally have Jed on our AFL list,” Burns said.

“It’s a fantastic story for our club to have a local product, who has played his football for Palm Beach Currumbin on the Gold Coast, join the AFL and we’re really proud of all the hard work Jed has put in to get to where he is now.

“We have watched Jed develop into the player he is today since he first joined the SUNS Academy and we can’t wait for him to make his mark on the AFL competition next year and beyond.”

Walter is a Palm Beach Currumbin product who excites with his raw power and athleticism, while also possessing tackling pressure not often seen from a player of his height at 194cm.

He has an impressive representative record, receiving Under 18 All Australian honours in both 2022 as an under-ager and 2023.

Walter has a real physical presence up forward with his appetite for the contest, along with his second efforts and tackling pressure.

He was a threatening target up forward for the Allies during this year’s National Championships averaging 13 disposals and seven marks as well as kicking 11 goals in four matches to be a vital cog in the title-winning team, the first Allies team in history to win the Championships.

Overall, he kicked 29 goals in eight matches this season to round off a remarkable underage career.
