The Gold Coast SUNS today hosted the club’s DIY Big Freeze at People First Stadium as part of FightMND’s Big Freeze 11 campaign.
A star-studded line-up braved the slide into an icy Plungie Quad, all in the name of raising funds and awareness for FightMND and its vision of a world free of Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
Gold Coast SUNS star Mac Andrew was a headline act in a line-up that boasted five Olympians including three-time Gold medalist Liesel Jones, Australia Rugby 7s stars Maddison and Teagan Levi, London 2012 Gold medalist Sally Pearson and Tokyo 2020 Hockeyroo representative Rosie Malone.
A frosty start to Tuesday morning greeted SUNS and Richmond star and two-time premiership player Brandon Ellis, GC SUNS AFLW player Keely Fullerton and 36-time Hockeyroo Kalindi Commerford, while JGR&STN co-founder Lucy Jackson, social media sensations Srey and Checkers from Marmalade, self-confessed ‘egg man’ and former Love Island contestant Tommy Armour and Gold Coast TikTok creator Katie Gulle all took the plunge.
The event raised in excess of $15,000 for FightMND and you can still show your support for FightMND by donating to the SUNS’ Big Freeze page here, or by purchasing a beanie, cap or socks ahead of next Monday’s Big Freeze 11 at the MCG.
