Three home matches including a Thursday night blockbuster highlight the Gold Coast SUNS’ opening rounds of the 2027 Toyota AFL Premiership season.

The AFL has today released its 2027 fixture, which will see the SUNS feature across seven states and territories next season.

The SUNS will host consecutive home matches in Rounds 2 and 3, against Richmond and North Melbourne respectively, as part of an increased 10 matches at People First Stadium in 2027.

Gold Coast will also host 2027 preliminary finalists Hawthorn to open ANZAC Round under Thursday night lights on Thursday, April 22.

People First Stadium will also host SUNS matches against Essendon (Round 8), Port Adelaide (Round 13), Collingwood (Round 15), the Western Bulldogs (Round 17), St Kilda (Round 19) and 2027 grand finalists Fremantle (Round 21) and Brisbane Lions (Round 23).

The SUNS will make the annual venture to the Northern Territory in Round 10, hosting Carlton at TIO Stadium on Sunday, May 23.

Damien Hardwick’s side will play at 13 venues in total in 2027, including returns for the first time since 2024 to each of Ballarat’s Mars Stadium, the SCG, Engie Stadium and Barossa Park.

The fixture includes double-up clashes against the Brisbane Lions, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs, GWS Giants, North Melbourne and Port Adelaide.

Tickets for individual matches will go on sale in early 2027.

“The release of the AFL Fixture is always a moment filled with anticipation and excitement for our members and fans, with plenty for them to look forward to in the build-up to the 2027 AFL Season,” Evans said.

“With there set to be ten home games on the Gold Coast next year, our members and fans will get the opportunity to experience back to back home games in Rounds 2 & 3, a Thursday night ANZAC Round blockbuster against Hawthorn and Collingwood returning to the coast in the school holiday period.”

“Our members continue to support our club in record numbers, and with plenty of demand for our home matches at People First Stadium, I’d encourage everyone to get on board early to ensure they don’t miss out on all the action."
