Gold Coasters can celebrate their local wildlife heroes this Saturday at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary before supporting their SUNS AFLW heroes in the QClash at People First Stadium.
On Saturday October 4, the SUNS will be in pursuit of it’s first QClash Cup and second win of the season when they take on the Brisbane Lions.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary will open the gates for Wildlife Heroes Day, a celebration of the people saving Australia’s precious animals - from the Sanctuary’s founder, Alex Griffiths, to the dedicated vets, nurses, and conservationists of today.
Koala Conservation Specialist at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Sarah Eccleston and Koala Yalnun are looking forward to the big day.
“We are pumped for this Saturday’s Wildlife Heroes Day and the SUNS AFLW QClash,” Eccleston shared with SUNS media.
“Not only is it Wildlife Heroes Day where we celebrate all things koala and conservation at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary but Yalnun is the SUNS biggest supporter - her name means sun in Yugambeh language.”
From 10am - 2pm at Conservation HQ, guests can step inside the Wildlife Hospital’s rehabilitation facilities (included with General Admission) and experience conservation talks and wildlife demonstrations, plus enjoy plenty of family fun activities around the Sanctuary.
SUNS fans can then soak in the QClash rivalry and cheer on their AFLW heroes from 5:05pm. Gates open at 4.15pm and the first 800 entrants are entitled to a free upgrade to The Lounge.
The first 1000 entrants can also score more bang for their buck with $2 Footy Snacks on offer. Secure a voucher and redeem either a $2 pie, $2 hotdog or $2 chips.
