The Gold Coast SUNS have traded Brayden Fiorini to Essendon.
Fiorini informed the club of his decision to exercise his rights as a free agent following the opening day of the 2025 AFL Continental Tyres Trade Period and today has been traded for Essendon’s 2026 future third round selection.
“I will be forever grateful to the SUNS for the opportunity they gave me as an 18-year-old to fulfill my dream of becoming an AFL footballer,” Fiorini said.
“I’ll always value and cherish the incredible journey we’ve shared over the past decade, the club, and the people within the club, have had a profound impact on my life both on and off the field and for that I’d like to say, Thank You.
“I will always be so proud that I was able to represent this footy club, and I look forward to following the journey over the coming years.”
Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy Craig Cameron has thanked Fiorini for his service to the club.
“While we had made an offer for Brayden to remain at the Gold Coast SUNS, we respect his decision to explore his free agency options,” Cameron said.
“Brayden has made a significant contribution to our football club, both on and off the field, throughout ten seasons, and has been a much-loved member of our playing group. We would like to wish Brayden, his wife Molly and young son William all the best in their next chapter.”
Fiorini played 123 matches for the SUNS since joining with Pick 20 in the 2015 AFL Draft, kicking 41 goals.
